Como MACBA en Barcelona o Bercy en París, South Bank en Londres es un lugar de reunión y peregrinación para skaters, no solo locales sino del mundo entero. La controversia sobre su posible reubicación desaparición en beneficio de la construcción de un centro comercial que reemplace al mítico spot está al fuego, y son varios los frentes de batalla que hay abiertos para evitarlo.
Recientemente, Mark Gonzales, el -problablemente- skater más influyente de todos los tiempos, se manifestó en favor de que Southbank siga en pie y habló sobre lo que ha sido, es y representa esta meca del skate, mira el vídeo debajo.

Southbank, a place long time part of London`s skateboarding landscape, runs the risk of disappearing, or, at the very least, of being relocated. The most affected community, the local skaters, who have adopted the place as a meeting point and development field for their skating skills, are taking up the matter and have started to fight to defend their second home.
As a worldwide known skate mecca, it was only a matter of time before professional skaters started to voice their opinions, one of whom is Mark Gonzales. Days ago The Gonz revealed his views on the importance of Southbank and its significance for the people, not only for the skaters (who hang around there on a daily basis) but also for the tourists or the random Londoners who go there to see how skateboarding is alive and kicking in one of the most vibrant cities in the world.
