Jay Shells posee una elevada conciencia social (y neoyorquina), por eso creó y llevó a cabo el proyecto Subway Etiquettes, con el que instaba a los usuarios del metro a evitar comportamientos de mal gusto, de los que solemos ser «víctimas silenciosas» los pasajeros. Y por eso es que este año se tiró a las calles con su nueva obra, RAP QUOTES. Esta vez señalizando puntos exactos de la gran metrópolis con extractos de letras de canciones referidos a los mismos. Entre los autores de las letras están KRS-One, Jay-Z, Buckshot, Jeru The Damaja y así hasta más de 30 MCs y sus fraseos. En esos puntos coinciden el street art y el amor al hip-hop.
Jay Shells possesses a clear social conscience, that led him to pin numerous posters aiming to abolish human bad habits inside the carriages of the New York subway, If it only had an effect on a few people it was a good lesson, that was in 2010.This year he came back up to the surface with a street related project called Rap Quotes, in which he used the verses of prominent rap lyrics (mostly written during rap`s golden era) pinning them in the exact locations mentioned in the songs, and in doing so paying homage to MCs such as KRS One, Jay-Z, AG just to name a few. Yes, another way to merge the spheres of street art and Hip Hop, and yes, once again, only in New York City.
